Gabriel Taboada

Partner

Gabriel is co-managing partner of Durán & Osorio, which he founded in 1994. With more than 30 years of experience, he has an exceptional background in litigation and public law consultancy.

He has been involved in most of Colombia’s major public transportation and infrastructure projects over the past 25 years and was a member of the Presidential Infrastructure Commission that operated in 2019 and 2020. In 2022, he was awarded the Knights Cross of the National Order for Merit in Infrastructure (Presidential Decree 1102).

Beyond his legal practice, Gabriel has held several high-level government positions, including Securities Superintendent (head of Colombia’s capital markets watchdog), Managing Director of the National Institute for Social Housing and Urban Redevelopment (INURBE), General Director of Economic Regulation at the Ministry of Finance, and General Director of Banking at the Banking Superintendence. As a government official, he played a key role in drafting legislation and regulations on financial markets, securities, housing, transportation, corporate governance, and white-collar crime.

Currently, Gabriel leads our litigation and public law consultancy practices, heads our flagship Good Governance & Anti-Corruption Team, and serves as an A-list arbitrator for the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce.
